look a little different from stock pics. the one that got me was the ring. looks very fake or very scapped up. thought i got a scoop on this one since listed as 1/20 oz, but later in ad says 1/2 oz. but 5 yuan cant be 1/2 ounce can it?

if you would like to know about the degree of chinas counterfieting, i was looking for smokes online and decided china was cheapest. my search led me to learn that china makes so many fake marlboros and 555's (many found in us) that they could supply either every american or american smoker (i forget) with one and a half packs a day.
    now thats large scale!

The odds that coins from china are fake are more like 99% not 50%.. I would not buy any coins from Asia

    No doubt.

I doubt that those examples are counterfeit, as the Chinese government is quite severe for counterfeiting of their own coins after 1949. Certainly isn't worth it for such small amounts. Not saying for sure, as very hard to do with photos. The coin on the ring will be really beat up, as the .999 gold is too soft to stand up to hand dings.

thank you. but does anyone know if the sizing on th ring would be 1/2 oz or closer to 1/20?
    for 5 yuan?

1/20th of an ounce. An average size for a woman used to be 6-7, but now closer to 9-10. Total Melt would be about 3.3 g of gold if my math is OK this late.

They are indeed strict regarding their own currency, but there are more and more confiscations of their own bogus notes and coinage on a mass scale. Apparently their own people are getting more bold regarding counterfeiting the yuan as well. There are actual whole towns in China that are designated for counterfeiting goods. I don`t trust ANYTHING from them, but unfortunately the average consumer is brain dead and can`t get enough of their cheap crap. (I need to stop now before I get too heated and smash something) : )

LOL. i know what u mean. used to be made in usa or canada meant quality. try to find any of that now. u have to rely on us or canada qc on chinese made stuff now. when they gave you us citizens that cheque to boost the economy (forget the corrct term for them) i thought it would have been smart to mark " only valid for goods made in the usa" you wanna make the economy better, how about creating or sustaining local jobs. i know local made stuff costs way more, but hey, it was free money anyway, and walmart got it all.

Every time that I hear something regarding Chinese merchandise.....it`s not good....and I too share Your dismay for what Walmart has turned into now.

I get into a little regarding numismatics, but until I discovered this site, I had no idea that China was counterfeiting older coins at such a high level. China is even slabbing their garbage coins now too. I wonder how long it will be before reputable dealers are even fooled by them? (as the "quality" of the fakes increases)
