I found a great article about investing in gold that is rather un-biased and very informative. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/learn-how-to-invest/the-10-biggest-myths-about-gold.aspx?page=1 Amazingly enough, it's on the MSN money website. Usually the articles aimed at investors on web sites of this ilk, try to do everything they can to scare buyers away from precious metals, especially buying physical gold such as bullion coins or bars. Instead they push Gold ETFs, or some other investment vehicle that will pad the pocketbooks of those who sponsor these web-sites.
I was only able to glance at the article but it looks like a good one and I'll check it out when I get home. I know some ppl have their money tied up in ETF's but I feel that physical gold in the hand is much better. Feels better all the way around!! Here's an article and video on ETF scams. I'm just sayin' http://www.shtfplan.com/precious-metals/the-great-etf-gold-scam_03312010 Here's a small part: "But not all ETF’s are created equal, and some purport to invest directly in specific commodities like oil, silver or gold. Many investment advisers, recognizing investors’ need for safe assets, have offered their clients the opportunity to buy gold via these commodity based ETFs. And in recent months, some of these precious metals ETFs have seen massive inflows of capital. The problem, of course, is that while investors believe these gold commodity ETFs to be the equivalent of purchasing the physical metal, nothing could be further from the truth".
The best thing about that article was the way it kicked into the dumpster so many things people say just because other people are saying them.
The article is good especially concerning ETF funds. They require a lot of research and staying on top of. I like the bird in the hand !
