Well here it is folks-I'm too cheap to buy the other one. Looks much better in hand.

I am pretty sure that is all sorts of illegal the way it is now. At a minimum doesn't it have to have the word COPY on it?

Yes, I just hope no one gets trys to missrepresent it. As for me it says in collection as you see it in the picture. Thanks for your concern!

Very cool, just dont see myself dropping over a $100 for one. At the end of the day its still a peace dollar, just with number change.

    What does "Bulk-Handling Finish" mean?

I suspect misrepresentation is high on many purchasers' list, even if they would deny it from the depths. The question is just how soon.

It means that the coin was not handled individually (e.g. carefully), and as such, may have bag marks and reed marks thay make the coin look like a realistic MS-63, as opposed to his other offering, which is on the level of an MS-68.

pure insanity ... it's one of my favorite coin stories ... i vaguely remember this being in the news ... I was 8 in 1965 and wanted one ... anyway i paid next to nothing for it ...

didn't you ever buy something completely useless?

I think it is interesting, I am just concerned about Hobby Act rules. I think if its overstruck it still is a copy of a real numismatic item, (if they do or do not exist), so I think it should have the word copy applied to it.

The hobby act was enacted for coin collectors, so at a minimum we should abide by it. Have you asked the producer why he feels he didn't have to stamp copy on it?

seeing these types of items concerns me....i see stuff like this in the political americana field..reproductions made, then put into a country auction, and sold as genuine. just causes problems....but that is my opinion. and yes, i have bought items just for the fun of it.

Interesting article in Coin World on the minter, his thoughts and the process in minting these. It also state there a "marker" by the mint mark that a "real" 1964 D Peace Dollar should not have. You can see it in the picture posted at the left of the mint mark.

FYI, fantasy restrikes/overstrikes aren't required to have the word COPY on them. Daniel is a very sharp dude and knows exactly what he's doing, and breaking the law is not it.

From what I've read thusfar, most folks who are purchasing them are hoping to flip them for a profit at some point in the future. The rest just think they are neat and want one.
