I'm sure with those bids they think they are.

It looks weird that you can put 999 silver and 1 troy ounce and not be.
Many will get confused by it I bet.

    From the item description:

The high bidder cannot say the item was not properly described.

There was a new kid on CoinTalk 2 or 3 months ago that bought a "bar of gold" that was clearly copper (or something similar) plated with gold. His bid was WAY below the value of the bar IF IT HAD BEEN SOLID GOLD but WAY more than the plated bar was worth. The bar was properly described (as is the item in the OP) but the kid, in his haste and enthusiasm, did not read the description and swallowed the hook. He ended up getting the seller to cancel the sale. I'm not sure what happened to that kid. I think he flamed out pretty fast here.

    Ouch....

Here is my ideal ebay sell:
    Take some tin
mold it into a Platinum Art Bar
    Make the "art bar" say:
    1oz .99989 find platinum

and then in the description say "It's cool platinum shaped. Not really platinum but art tin platinum shaped."

LOL if only, the best $1000 I have ever "earned."
I don't think I will ever understand how these people get away with that non-sense.

i dont know, i see a little room for clarification."1 TROY OZ. 100 MILLS 999 SILVER" and "THEY ARE LAYERED IN 999 PURE SOLID SILVER 100 MILLS THICK" could imply that the silver plating is 100 mills (or millimeters) thick, (someone else do the conversion but thats over a third of an inch)and that the plating weighs 1 troy ounce.

That ebay bidder is going to be in for a rude awakening when this bidder realizes that he/she overpaid on those silver-plated bars. 100 mills is just a fancy way of saying silver-plated. Hobo is right. Bidding in haste does result in costly mistakes for the ebay bidder.

My next favorite item on ebay is the 1oz German silver bars. I guess since this is the name of the metal you dodn't have to mention how it's made. I have seen many ad's stating that German silver is the excotic silver with great investment potential. The formulation is 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc. no silver at all.
