Here's a good one. Made me say "What the...." Looks a lot like edge reeding to me. What does everyone think?
Yep, looks like it was struck through reeding. Sometimes when there is a striking error, the reeding can come off in fragments. This is a very interesting error, and also pretty rare.
Here is a link that will explain everything you want to know about how this happens... http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=6301
Any idea on value? I've been unable to locate even a single example of another Ike sold with this going on.
Have you had this for sale or purchased this in the last year or so? I feel like I have seen this one, or one just like it for sale for around $50-$100, but I don't remember exactly where I saw it.
Nope! Found it in a random teller tray. There were about a dozen Ikes total. I posted pics of it also on the error coin information exchange, and tried to post there, but it says someone has to approve it first or whatever. lol I posted it here within minutes of noticing it
I will try to see if I can find the picture of it. That's an amazing find. Thanks for sharing. Here it is, taken from google images:
Oh wow! That's a mirror to mine! Did you say that this one sold? Thanks for showing that pic; I couldn't find another. Back to searching I guess...
