Just negotiated the purchase of this gem. Surface-wise, it is probably one of the finest graded at PCGS MS-66 Brown. I opted for a beautiful surface, rather than a bright red colour at a lesser grade. In my opinion, it is Red-Brown (or Trace Red).
RB is what we both would call it.But Pcgs has a color scale pro's have go by. Pcgs is very picky on all copper coins. If non USA it seams that color Red is a harder grade to gets for Red or Red Brown.
http://www.cointalk.com/threads/wor...west-acquisition.165399/page-205#post-1862397 1884 5 cent Canadian. Seems to be a key-semi key, which I was unaware of when I picked it up. My guess is about G-4 (the ear and some hair is showing). Also can anyone tell if it is a near or far date?
Had to run a bunch of errands on the way home from work & when I looked at my change when I got home, found this: A 1918 Canada Ten Cent silver (0.925); finding an almost hundred year old coin in pocket change, even in AG, still puts a smile on my face......
Ed is this 1970?? or what is the date of this one?I have unc 1970 with same strike thru or grease marks on it.
that would be very interesting since our cents stopped in 2012. That portrait of the Queen was used 1990, 1991, 1993-2001, & 2003.
RB, very very nice coin. I cannot wait to get more into Canadian coinage. It seems that there some light at the end of the tunnel and might be in Canada in few months time.
