that's hard to do if you are collecting world coins because there are new coins ever year. U.S. coins get boring because usually they are all the same designs. not including the quarters or presidential dollars or sac dollars.
good point if that is what you collect, but say you collect hammered then the 300 limit might just be a good idea--just a thought
I've never counted the number of coins I have. Whatever the number, I'm sure my wife won't approve, therefore it's meaningless.
I'm guessing around 400 total about 100 that really matter mostly slabbed or to be slabbed and the rest lower grade stuff and a bunch of junk to slightly better then junk silver the total value is fairly high I have a few that each that's worth more then all the low end and junk silver combined I've been accumulating a lot of nice high quality but not exceptionally expensive (under $500) coins I may end up selling
I forgot to say, the unopened bag is 25 Kg. from 13 years ago, and I don't count those silly BU roll's that I'll probably be stuck with..
Let me guess, 1) a 1794 flowing hair dollar , 2) a Gobrecht dollar and 3) an 1884 Trade dollar in PR6-something...?
I started counting them so I would know but I lost where I was at about 100. I'll have to start over.
i am estimating around 5,000-7,000, but do my 2000+ cull wheat cents count? or my 500-ish 40% halves? junk silver? BU rolls of various date lincoln cents, jefforson nickels, and sacagewea dollars? if a counted every single coin probably 12,000 or more as far as face value, over $2k (including currency), maybe even $3k or more
Is there any difference between hoarding and collecting? Is it definable? I think there exists a difference in the selection of items you choose to keep.
