I know that generally speaking putting coins in jewelry is frowned upon. I don't think its too bad if the coin is a common date or bullion. My chain is a 1998 unc. 1/10 oz platinum eagle with a 14K bezel and 14k chain. I got this in 1998 when I was still in high school. Thats when my interest in coin collecting really took off! Back then I had to get the bezel custom made for the coin. People like QVC and HSN werent selling them like this. The ring is part of my Christmas present. I bough the 14K holder from a company called bezelco out of California. My dad gotme the 2011 unc 1/10 oz gold eagle. The 2011 is significant bc my my wife and I's first child was born this uear. He was actually born on July 4th. Id like to maybe give him the ring one day when hes older. I also have some common date Mercury dimes in some cufflinks. I dont jave a picture of those.
A necklace of which I'm not yet entirely sure the history, but I remembered I had it when I read this thread. Thanks for the reminder! I want to say Constantine, but please feel free to correct. Thanks for looking! -L
I wanna make a coin necklace using a cheap silver ancient of a empress but I havent found the right one, I dont wanna use a junk one either. I have the image of how I want it to look in my had, about it, lol.
wow, sick thread. The only one I had was a half barber in a clasp. I broke the clasp off and ended up selling the half barber for 16 bucks.
I am not a jewelry guy, but I did a few pieces for the ladies in my life. Made this one for mom Made this one for the wife. Made this one for my daughter.
Sometimes you see something you really like, even though you don't yet have the right place or right person for it. Low mintage 1991 Platinum Koala - 1/20th Ounce in Onyx and 14k bezel.
Here's a few I have y'all might like... An engraved seated liberty dime fashioned into a cuff link. The engraving is on the reverse of the coin. This one is dated 1856. A German 2 mark coin from 1913 celebrating the defeat of Napoleon transformed into a brooch. Lastly, a little ring of engraved silver Austrian coins, some enamelled, that seems to be a family grouping. I believe the larger coins are quarter florins, while the smaller are 10 kreuzer pieces. I would like to think this was carried around by a parent or grandparent.
Not so much, it's a 1/4 ounce. With gold at 2k, she's a little Leary of flashing it around. She also said it's a little bit heavy and maybe would like a 1/10 ounce to replace it. She really doesn't wear much as for chains, so it's a once in awhile piece.
I never owned a piece of coin jewelry, believe it or not, until yesterday. And the truth is, I have absolutely zero recollection from where it came. I actually found it in a small box of other coins, in my attic. And I don't know where that box of coins came from either. Yes, a cheap peace dollar necklace, but it fits the theme of this resurrected thread.
