These two cover the span pretty well until one of you gets a Constantine XI. The bronze is a pre-reform Anastasius nummus which could be the last Roman coin before he started the Byzantine series. The silver is John VIII, next to last Byzantine Emperor. I good collection would place a few thousand coins between these.

 

Not exactly Byzantine IMO...


Arab-Byzantine (or would it be Sassanid-Byzantine?)...

I wasn't expecting how cool those look in hand...

I suggest anytime you have the opportunity to buy a cup shaped coin with clear faces on all figures, take it. There are so many more that have one side or the other poorly struck.

 

Nice coins posted so far. Keep em coming! I know there are more people on here with Byzantines!

i've also had byzantine fever all month! i'm currently workin on a couple more trachy coins...

 

More cool coins! Especially your Justinian follis Anoob; this type for Justinian I really want, at the least, in similar shape as yours.

How many times have I tried to drum up discussion, and get, ...nice coin...or something to that effect?

How many times do I ask questions that go unanswered/ignored?

How many times do people not take my advice?

Sometimes I find it a bit disheartening....

Jeeze even my pictures come out small...

I think gone are the days when I invest the time to make big posts, with specs and what not, I think I will be like the world guys and just say, "Rome, As."
