I don't know the medal, but the inset coin is the reverse of the 1926 US Oregon Trail Half Dollar: http://www.commem.com/prod08OR.htm
This is one of my favorite nudes on coins. This coin commemorates the the Olympic Games of times long ago. Asia Minor, Pamphylia, Aspendos s. 370-330 BC AR Stater 10.06g x 22.3mm Obverse: Two Nude Wrestlers, arm control grapple. AF monogram between; left ESTFED???? Reverse: Sliger right. Triskelion right field. Inside dotted square boarder; All within Incluse square. ref: SNG von Aulock 4566 SNG Fr. 83
The medal was probably issued by/for the American Numismatic Society. See the ANS motto (Parva ne pereant), and the oak leaf with "ANS" at the bottom ... Christian
here's an unlisted constatine i, jupiter on the reverse has been working on those abs... but i think it was cold the day he posed for this.
Hey => this coin was the last coin that I posted in my last forum ... ummm, I kinda want a chance to say hey & goodbye (plus, I am merely trying to post a coin-photo) ...
