Why is the dansco #7070 album so expensive? Are they not made anymore? There going for over a hundred dollars on eBay what gives? Thanks
Yes, they have been out of stock for a couple years now. Supposedly an update is coming. They are very popular and yet haven't been made for years. That's the reason for the price. You might be able to find one at a b&m if you're lucky.
I placed an order with Dansco a few weeks ago and they sent me a personal message thanking me for the order. They also asked if I had any question. I replied back asking when the Dansco #7070 would be updated and available. The representative replied with this: That's a great question Jon and unfortunately I do not have an answer to that. I have been waiting to hear from Dansco about this for about 3 years now. Once we hear something we will pass it along to you. I am slowly making my US Type Coin collection but they are all in tubes or in a plastic bag waiting for the day for me to store them in a Dansco #7070 album.
I think it would be cool but a lot of people like me have stabbed older stuff. Coin supply websites do list other companies but I believe that there is one that is known to be defective. I would wait. It seems tough to spend that much on a holder. That could fund some nicer coins for the set.

I'm not familiar with intercept shield bu I will look into it. And putting them into holders doesn't seem like a bad idea for the time being.
The 7070 album was already a bit large. Dansco will have to go with two albums. They probably don't know what to do with all the quarters and dollars.
And Dansco doesn't include all the coins that the NGC Registry Set has. I don't know about PCGS's version of a type set. But as I always say, that's the nice thing about type sets. You get to make your own definition.
