great find. I love pulling silver dimes out of $100 BWR's dimes... so far I am at 6 silver rossies, 5 canadian silver dimes. 3 foreign coins from dime rolls. so much fun. nothing like seeing that silver dimes white edge to get my heart racing for joy. lol
Tonight's finds: 1973-D half dollar; 1969 Canadian dime; really shiny 1961-P, 1968-D, and 1970-D pennies; and wheat pennies: 1916-P, 1944-P, 1948-S, 1955-D, and 1958-D. Last night I pulled 4 wheats out of one roll.
Tonight's haul: a really nice Series 1985(!) $100 bill, Series 2003A $1 bill, 1960-D nickel, really shiny nice pennies from 1959 (D), 1961 (P) and 3 1969-Ds, three 1960-D pennies, and wheat pennies: 1950-S, 1957-D, 1957-P. and a 1958-D. I really wanted to buy the $100 bill (I bought all the other coins and the $2 bill) but didn't have the money.
I worked the graveyard shift, and I found a 1954-P wheat penny, a 1953-D nickel, a 1972-P Ike dollar coin, and a 1976-D bicentennial Ike dollar.
Tonight was a half dollar night. I found 1959-D and 1960-D pennies, a 1941-P nickel, a 1979-D dollar coin, and NINE half dollars: two from 1967, a 1969-D, a 1971-D, a 1972-P, a 1972-D, two bicentennial-Ds, and a 1977-D. Yay for silver!
Last night was slow at work, but I found a gem, a 1946-D first year Roosevelt silver dime, and also a 1959 nickel. The dime is in great shape. I'm getting better at recognizing silver because I knew what it was when it was in the guy's hand. After work, my friend gave me 3 buffalo nickels, a 1935 and two from 1937. It was a good day overall.
Last night I spotted a Series 2003A $2 bill, a 1960-D penny, Canadian pennies from 1966, 1973, and 1974, and a 1963-D silver dime. I pulled all three Canadian coins from rolls. A customer spent the dime. This is the second '63-D dime that I have found in the last week, and the 27th silver dime that I have found since March.
Last night it was a series 1976 $2 bill; 1953-D, 1959-D, and 1960-D nickels; two 1959-D pennies; two 1960-D pennies; and a 1952-P wheat penny.
Spotted last night: 1958-P wheat penny; 1960-D nickel; 1964-D silver dime; 1971-D, 1979-P, 1994-D, and 1996-D Kennedy halves; and the finds of the night, a 1952-P and a 1953-D Franklin silver half dollars. It was a great night for coinspotting.
Can you put up a clearer image of the 64D quarter reverse? Looks like an outside chance at Type C reverse.
The quarter is in my collection in another state but I'll take a pic of it next time I'm there. What is a type C?
A very few 1964D quarters were made using a die intended for use with the clad design that began in 1965. It is unlikely that your quarter is Type C (the odds don't favor it), but some of the details of the leaves and tail do not seem consistent with the apparent strength of the strike. I'd just hate to see you sell it for scrap for want of a clear picture.
Heck no I'm not selling it for scrap. I'm not selling it at all. It is in my "forever collection" and I don't intend on ever selling my collection. I collect for fun, not for profit. I've never sold a coin. If I were to sell them, it would be to a collector. I would never sell a coin for scrap.
I haven't posted for a few days, but recently I have found 3 $2 bills, 1960-P and 1960-D early Lincoln Memorial pennies; 1945-D, 1952-S, and three 1957-D wheat pennies; a 2003 French Polynesian 10 franc coin; 1971-D and 1981-D halves, and a 1964 dime. Yay for 90% silver! This makes 30 silver dimes that I've found in the last 3 months or so.
