I do not usually post pics of my finds.......the main reason being that often they are not so good, but today I fancied a few hours after work on a small arable field which was in the process of being ploughed. the farmer kept grinning at me as he got ever closer in his tractor and I soon ran out of turnip stubble/shoots and had to call it a day. In total I was there for 2 hours and I am chuffed with my finds. You will notice the Roman coins, but by far the best result of the day was the silver Saxon sceatta, which i believe is a continental 'porcupine' type. Its my first and has been on my want list to find for EVER!!!!! I will be submitting all finds to the PAS (portable antiquities scheme) for recording.......
Great finds! My favorite is also the sceatta, as one of my areas of collecting is the dark ages. I realize you are planning to keep it, but know you have a potential buyer in me if you ever decide to part with it.
I will take out any of you guys from across the pond if you are ever in the UK and want to find your own Roman coins......(or at least try to find some)
Very cool YOC, i don't travel much, but it would be fun to find a Ancient coin, pick me up on the way jw.
There is no doubt. Trouble is his middle name. Look out Great Britain. Things will never be the same.
