Off of lincolns hair is a line coming out. What kind of error would this be?
I am guessing die break but not really sure. Still a BIG newbie!

Looks more like a plating issue than a die crack.

Edit: If you push on it with your fingernail you can probably flatten it out. Yay gas bubbles between the zinc core and copper plating! :)

I assume that it is raised. It could also be a die gouge. It looks awfully straight to be a plating issue.

    You could be right.
I have seen quite a few plating blisters that are more or less a straight line though.

I'd like to see a more in-focus picture if we could, Miketexas. Just for curiousity's sake. :)

It is raised. I assume a coin with die gouge would look as if something cut into it?

Well, since it flattened out, that answers that!

No! A die gouge is a mark cut into the die. When the coin is struck, it becomes a raised mark on the coin.......just like the date or legend.

Sry for the misunderstanding that one did not flatten out. Another one that i had that had similar markings did

    This one[IMG]

In that case, it is probably a die gouge.

Looks like a die issue. Do the ones with lots of gas
Bubbles have any value? I've always thought they look cool. And have even saved a couple really good examples that I like
