I don't think so, when they put it on, they hit it so hard, it indented right through the planchet, thats why its blue around the date, the mint mark is really deep, on the bottom right corner

The mintmark is "deep" because the zinc behind it is rotting leaving a hollow under the plating. given time in the right environment this mintmark will actually fall off leaving a crater.

ziggy9 is right , this is a area of the zinc exposed and rotting.

There have been a few threads (the "strike through" Lincoln as an example) like this lately... you are kidding with this stuff, right? Honest question.

dont let that image fool you, that D is where near level on the coin, elevating the coin, make the D look level, and whats it matter to you anyway lol

Whelp... considering the number of newbies on the board, care should be taken when making questionable statements and any kidding made obvious. Just a humble opinion, of course, so please carry on.

It's split plating as others have said, but I'm not sure I'm understanding the meaning of "when they put it on it indented right through the planchet..." Mint marks aren't punched into each coin; they're punched into the dies(before 1990).

It's plating issues plain and simple.
