Hi all,I have an interesting 1980Jefferson Nickel with a Philadelphia mint mark but I am fairly certain that this is an error. It is properly oriented and does'nt appear to have been altered in any way.I added a photo as an attachment because I don't have a hosting site at this time.Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Why do you think this is an error? What looks wrong with it? By the way, you can use www.tinypic.com to host. It's free, and you don't need to sign up for an account.
Thanks I went off half cocked before I realised that the date the mint added the "P" was 1980 not 1982 (rolls eyes)-soory for the stupid question. and thatnks for the upload site.
You're welcome. And it wasn't a stupid question. All questions are welcome here. Every once in a while, shocking new discoveries are made, and we usually don't make those discoveries without asking questions.
All of us have asked questions like this in the past. There are no stupid questions. Keep them coming.
hey i have a 1980p that looks like that p also you might want to check the 80 mine is doubled and on reverse almost all letters are doubled and i cant find any info on this coin
Hi: I just ran across your thread while looking up 1980 P nickle. I just found this in a coin roll. it's a real hot mess, but the P looks filled, and I have no idea what's going on with the 9
Well, I think that's a possibility. That nine sure likes it was never a full tail. Don't know. Thought it might be interesting.
