1970 D nickel struck through grease?

    I'm curious as to what would be classified as "Excessive Mint Damage."

    Is there Overly Excessive Mint Damage then?:rollling: haha

    Nickel Guys pretty much summed it all up perfectly.

    maybe I can help you here. coins do get damaged during the minting process such as being loaded in huge size bins for transport and the coins coming out of the presses has to fall into the bins , there are many ways coins can get damaged at the mint.

    also in my opinion what we call error coins can also be called mint damaged coins if we chose to do so. maybe this is what the NGC guy was referring to. why don't we just leave this HowardStern person alone and listen to what he or she says. Maybe they are just starting to find out about error coins and wanting to learn more about them.

    I don't see how a coin that scratched could get a grade,regardless if it is unc.

    What's the deal with this nickel? I found it in a box and it is fairly worn on both sides. Is this PMD or some kind of struck through grease error like what the OP was asking about?
