What a wonderful way to wake up huh? I was not expecting such a huge jump over night.

I think gold was at $1097 last night. I'd take daily $10 daily raises any day. But $20'ish a day would even be better!!! (of course I expect this to slow down)

Anyone know why the bump? I haven't really read any recent news that would cause gold to move high so quickly?

Here's a reason for the bump:

This is a little simplistic and overlooks an important point. The debt is the money and the money is the debt. The debt should not, can not, and will not be repaid. The central banking system is designed for the debt to never be repaid. It would be more honest if the Treasury just issued perpetual debt to the Fed. The alternative is to return the money issue function to the Treasury, not to try to pay down the debt in Federal Reserve Notes. Every dollar of Federal Reserve Notes is backed by a dollar of Treasury debt [or other reserve asset]. If $4trillion of debt was repaid, it would decrease the money supply by $4trillion and cause a massive deflationary depression.

Heck we heard that the entire East Coast was 20 degrees colder than usual (global warming??)...

As for the price of Gold, it was the right-coasters that were raising the price while we were either sleeping or (as you pointed out) surfing this morning. Its gonna be in the low 70s here....brr.....

Also of note, APMEX has started a new email blast re-announcing their FREE 'Gold Silver' iPhone App. It's in the App store under 'Gold Silver'. :eek:hya:

Supposedly this App also works on the second generation iTouch running iPhone OS 3.0 and later. I wasn't able to get it to install due to an error claiming it's not compatible and requires a "microphone" for use...

And if you read the user reviews of the App in the App store, notice that Dave McCarthy himself has written one. :)
