Think this is really an ounce of pure silver?

Sorry, but I can't live with that. You see, they're asking for a higher premium than what an ASE, maple or even RCM wildlife coin can be purchased for, and they're still a generic round. I can buy generic .999 rounds for less than $1 over spot, so why should I, or anybody, pay $3 over for their generic round. Yes, they're not a buffalo or any of the other generics that are around, but if they want that kind of premium, they should produce a respectable product, not something that appears to be a middle school shop project.

These items are tied to their group's "message", so what kind of message does amateur product send out? Probably not a good one, right?

33 million ASE's were produced last year, when you are doing that type of quantity your costs are spread out over a larger number of coins. It's going to be more expensive per coin to mint 100k or whatever they are minting.

People will pay $3 over for there rounds because they like the design or message, nothing wrong with that.

Yeah that is what I figured but they are still nice! Certainly the quality is not perfect, I got 10 of them and definitely don't think any of them are perfect, but as I said it is an ounce of silver which is what I care about. I did pay a premium for my 10 Debt & Death's but still worth it IMHO. Glad to see that others like them as well~

 

While I might be the most premium-obsessed numbers nerd here, I really can't see how 3 bucks is alot to ask for a coin that's specialty-made. It's basically an artwork anyway: you're spending $3 for a piece of art! THAT'S CHEAP. (For cheap, don't expect flawless.)

And I suppose there's 'good-likelihood' of collectible upside value on that pittance paid ($3.) IMO.

The quality-control issues are admittedly unfortunate/disappointing, though it's typical of the 'Made-In-America' ethos nowadays. Too bad.

 

This is baloney. There are all kinds of examples within AOCS mint itself that are of fantastic quality, and can be bought for the same premium as those, which are shoddy.

 

Can't you flip the rounds that you bought from on Ebay for double your profits? Seems a bit ridiculous to me to complain about something when you can get rid of them at a large margin of profit and move your money into something else if you truly find them so undesirable.

 

Luck-of-the-draw. That only proves my point (that others cited): quality-control issues. The same someone is packing the "fantastic quality" and the "crummy quality" coins also - think s/he's blind ... or you're on the Dogs List ? And $3 is, like, the cost of a half-gallon of milk or a good chocolate bar. Pretty darn cheap, for Made-in-America. 'Nuff said.

Whinging is about a pittance is unattractive and boorish, btw. I'm more concerned about global hunger or the price of gas, frankly.

 

Who's whining, just stating the facts as I see them. I got 2 different lots, one is amateur and the other is very nice. So it's not that they can't do it, it's more they chose not to.

Wanna talk about poor quality? How about the 2012 San Francisco SAE set? The reverse proof coins were HORRIBLE, and I bought 10 sets, none of which recieved a PF70 grade. That is coming from the US Mint with years of experience and MILLIONS of coins with virtually the same design under their belt. Let's not forget that these are simply bullions coins too, not special collectors items with a premium of over double spot from the mint~ I have not seen one of their proof coins in hand but do plan on ordering some. If the quality of those is substandard then I may be upset, but not over a bullion coin.

No I bought 10 sets which I have 7 left. I had an order for an additional 5 which I cancelled because the quality was terrible. Still have 7 left, 4 graded by PCGS and 3 sets with poor quality RP's~

 

The Silver Bullet Silver Shield website says that these are .1 troy ounce and 3.11 grams. Is that a typo, or are they really a tenth of an ounce?

 

haha I would guess that it is a typo... I just recieved my Trivium medallions in the mail yesterday and they are definitely 1oz each

It's a typo. This is not a very hi-tech site. My Death & Debt is 1 Oz, the new round says 1 Oz on the reverse.

 

I just did (again.) I see "One Ounce Silver Medallion" and "Weight 1 troy oz / 31.1 gr" I don't see where 'The Slave Queen' is listed at any other weight/size.
(Norfeds, however, CAN be tiny and that's potentially misleading to buyers.) If AOCS stars mislabelling things likewise, that would be a red flag.
