They said $60 a piece for the one ounce Old Man silver coins. Who do they think they are...the US Mint? TC

I saw ONE quarter out of all that that they showed and it was a 1937, looked pretty good too. However knowing the old man he'll most likely melt all those silver quarters and dimes down. I don't particularly care for him, since he's one of those "melt it down" kind of guys. I'd bet he'd melt those nice 100 oz Englehard bars too if he got the chance.

I wonder what the spot price was at the time the transaction took place and how much money the dude left on the table selling that much metal to a pawn shop instead of a coin shop.

I figured it out that he paid almost 30 thousand over spot in today's market, just shows you how long ago they filmed it.

they showed the calculater as he was adding and he put in 32.and change times however many oz he was figuring.. so i dont know if spot was at 32 or if thats just what he was offering per oz.. im not sure how long it takes the show to go from recording to when its played on tv but i hope spot was not at 40+ and he took a big loss.. but i guess if you only paid 5 bucks an ounce 111,000 is cash in the bank..

Just because they ask $60 a piece for those, doesn't mean they'll get it.

But then again, eBay is full of bidiots!

During the episode, Rick said that they paid, "a dollar over," and that the seller was free to try anywhere else, but he wouldn't find a better price (in Las Vegas, at least). If Rick was calculating the price at $32.00 and some change, so the spot price was $31.00 and change, I would guess that they either filmed the episode at the beginning of May 2012 or back in Fall, 2011.

Just my humble opinion. And everything that I know about the filming of Pawn Stars I learned from reading Charmy Harker's (aka, The Penny Lady ®) posts here on CT!
