    Why?

Did he do anything that warrants a coin in his likeness?

As far as promoting civil rights activist, Medgar Evers, President Johnson, Rosa Parks, Oliver Brown, James Meredith and those known as the "Little Rock Nine" that President Eisenhower used military personel to escort them to High School come to mind and probably did more to advance 'fairness' in this country then Dr. King ever thought of.

Let us not rewrite history and give credit where it is due.

I know that I will probably be slammed for not being "politically correct", but it is what it is. Dr. King was one man and others did more, who are more deserving of being protrait on a US coin.

Dr. King is by far the best known out of all of the civil rights activists. He wasn't only just "one man" in the civil rights act, he was the leader that allowed us to look past our differences. The rest of the important civil rights activists were vital to equality and ending injustice towards African Americans, but Dr. king was the one who truly ended it.

Love the way you try to rewrite history.Click here to enlarge

Evers would have done more if he wasn't shot in 1963. What did Dr. King end? When? Like I wrote, other did more.

I like the way you rewrite history.

What did Dr. King end? When? If Dr. King ended anything, then why was it necessary for President Johnson to reach acoss to the Republicans to get his 'Civil Rights Act of 1968' passed.

Like I wrote earlier, others did more and are more deserving of being placed on a US Coin.

Enough arguing about who did what and when ! Either stick to the topic of the coin idea or the thread will be closed.
    knowledge ..... share it

There is already a bill that passed that will commemorate the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which might (ya never know) have MLK on it in 2014. I think the Civil Rights movement had a lot of important figures that all deserve to be on a coin, but likely a coin that commemorates the movement as a whole is better than picking just one figure from it.

That was my point exactly! To say that one was more deserving to be placed on a US coin then others is just foolish. I explained this last night in a response that was censored. I guess some people can not handle the truth.

Nobody is arguing, the OP asked for support on an issue and I asked why. Maybe my question is not "politically correct' but it is still a valid question.

So far all reasoning from both sides is opinionated. If you guys can bring forth factual, legit reasons that are backed up by research, i think that it would be up for a good arguement for the coin.
