Do the NGC coins come in edgeview holders or do you have to pay extra for them ?

Possible, but the value is not equal. I was just looking on ebay and I am seeing $900 for PF70 RP and about $500 for 70 S mint. I might break up the set and sell separately. I have decided that I am going to sell all of these and buy my 2 sets on ebay in OGP, since it doesn't make sense to crack out any 70's, and the 2 solid sets I have are 69s.

So, I will sell 2 sets of 69, the 3 x PF70 reverse proofs, and the 3 x MS69 S-proofs, and decide what to do with the rest later. Then I will buy 2 sets OGP (I might do that this weekend as the ebay traffic should be down).

Wow is there a glut of graded sets on ebay now. The rush has hit.

I agree that the glut has hit, but I think it's only temporary until the market works these out - I have decided that I will put a couple 69s up for sale at $1199 and not take my chance with bidding. Someone will probably buy anyway, and if not I will wait until the glut has passed and prices go up again - look at the UHR gold from just two years ago and I think that's a good indication of where things are going...

I don't think it could get worse than this...not even a complete set of 69's.

Yes, mostly. NGC accepts USPS and FedEx, but not UPS for some reason. This is directly from NGC site -

NGC recommends that you mail your coins via Registered Insured Mail or FedEx. If
you choose FedEx, you will need to have your own private insurance and an
    account number with them.

That's tough, sorry to hear it. I wonder what they mean by "Minimum Grade"? Does that mean it was damaged? Like I said, I was hoping mine would be better but I am still happy with them.

I think that is when you specify if they do not meet a minimum grade, which in this case appears to be 69~ then they are not slabbed at the request of the submitter.

I've sent them coins via UPS before, they signed for them and graded them... But you might be right so to be safe use USPS or Fedex.

Ahh, thank you, that makes sense. I didn't know you could request that.

    Correct, I didn't want anything below a 69 slabbed

rguinn, sorry to see your poor grading experience. After such a great start, with 4 of 5 70s for the bullion coin and then crash! If they haven't shipped them back yet, you might try to contact customer service and ask them to have a second look at the S uncirculated coins at least, because of the low grades for those. You don't have anything to lose at this point by asking. Even if they don't, since the ones that you need for a 70 set are the two unique coins and can still be labeled as set coins, you can give then a good look when you get them and see if you think that one of each is worth a second try. Best of luck.

Sound advice CH, thanks!!! My original plan was to keep the highest set either 69 or 70 as well as crack open what was needed for a OGP and sell the rest. No clue what to do now but I'll try and get a hold of them tomorrow and try that.

Anyone else with some advice if they were in this situation?

Well, I did a lot of price research last night and I can tell you than any 70s are selling for a premium, so you might want to split those out. I think the reverse proof 69s should also bring a premium, and of course the S mint coins are selling by themselves. Not sure what you should do but I am just going to sell all of mine in pieces and buy 2 in OGP to keep.

I don't know how mine will grade, but I'm hoping for the best.
I requested the return of my OGP so that if I want an OGP set,
all I have to do is crack them out. I can't see buying an OGP
set in the aftermarket when having my own only costs about
    $400 after grading.

How difficult is it to break out coins from NGC slabs without damaging them?

Using the right tools, not difficult at all.
