Recently purchased this AE 28 from Philippopolis in Arabia. Philip I is clearly depicted as a zombie! The reason I bought it was the reverse, which is actually in very decent shape, and is of very rare variant with retrograde S. I am aware of just one additional specimen of this type. The coin was struck in Antioch for use in Philippopolis, and retrograde variants from this mint are well known.
Interesting one, @Factor. I have no coins from Philippopolis in Arabia, but only from Philippopolis in Thrace, named after a different Philip. I do have a zombie coin, though! Last time I saw a face like Uberitas' it was in a haunted house! Trebonianus Gallus, AD 251-253. Roman AR antoninianus, 5.43 g, 20.1 mm, 6 h. Antioch, first series, AD 251-252. Obv: IMP C C VIB TREB GALLVS P F AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust, right; •••• below. Rev: VBERITAS AVG, Uberitas standing left, holding purse and cornucopiae; •••• in exergue. Refs: RIC 92; Cohen 125; RCV 9652; Hunter p. cvi; ERIC II 63.
Here is another zombie coin. It's my only one with an x-ray of a skull on the obverse. It makes me have nightmares with its pale skin and face without eyes...
