Your thoughts on this sale

For the last two years or so, I have been focusing exclusively on foreign coins since the prices of U.S. coins was so high for the coins I needed, so I am a little out of the loop. I don't really know what's trending with the U.S. coins or even what the key dates are anymore. Anyway, I was looking for some coins to sell so I could buy more foreign coins, and I found some U.S. coins I had doubles of. I like big, silver U.S. coins but I decided to get rid of this 1920 half dollar since it was kind of worn and I figured I could always find a better example if I wanted one. Spot price is about $10.70 and I didn't know if I'd even get that since silver has been falling. I was very surprised when it sold last night for more than $17. So what I'm wondering is, was I just really lucky, or are halves like this selling for way more than their silver value lately? If so, I should get some more to sell. I think I got this for about $6 back when silver was just starting to go up.

You got a very good price for it in my opinion, should be closer to silver value.

 

I agree with Tinpot. I've seen lots of silver going for much higher than spot on eBay.

 

It only takes two bidiots to drive a price higher than it should go. Note that the winning bidder is a relative newbie.
