Hello, I did purchased a bulk on IKE 1971-S proofs and was able to find four DDOs. Two of them are FS103 and other two are FS106. I would like your advice on which steps should I do with them. Since two of them has cloud ring which being a common on most IKE proof coins. Does it effect the total grading system? If so, is it necessary to submit through NCS/NGC to have cloud ring remove or it's a risky thing to do? If it's better to leave it alone and submit directly NGC or PCGS will be more attractive than NGC? (I am already a member of NGC) To my understanding, both varieties are still a scarce from both TPGS. Here's pictures. I did my best to have a clear close-up pictures and you can see points to confirmed the DDO variety. IGWT is being focus because that area is only area obvious showing different between FS103 and FS106. The rest of observe DDO points are matched as showed in ikegroup.info. Four IKEs... First 1971-S Proof FS103 Second 1971-S Proof FS103 First 1971-S Proof FS106 Second 1971-S Proof FS106 If you feel those coins aren't correct attributed, then let me know why they aren't FS103 and FS106? Thanks.
Here is my image from my FS103 - Remember the 103 will exhibit doubling towards a south-east direction. The 106 is in southern direction only. There are many, many doubled dies for the 1971S proof IKE, but only 2 are the big ones. This doubling is pretty dramatic. Personally, I just don't see it on your pics. Sorry.
I'm with Joseph on this. I do not believe that your FS-103's are actually FS-103's. I also do not believe that either FS-106 is an FS-106. FS-103 FS-106
