Anthony, I would have passed too. Your silver is worth more than any of the coins that you got. Did you already do the trade or is the trade pending?

I agree, I honestly think the other person is getting quite a deal. That VDB seems to be the most "valuable", but with those rim nicks, if they go into the edge of the coin, they will be considered damage.

Trade is pending, but I may not do it now...I do like the 3 cent nickel though.

Doing some quick look ups on your coins verses his - it looks according to Numismatic News the purchases would retail @ $32.55 and your coins @ $24.33 with silver @ 9x 1oz of Mexican Silver. This is based upon the 1909 VDB not being damaged as this is figured @ $13.00 if damage figure $6.50 now you are at the equal trading point. Other factors to consider are? Are the coins you are purchasing graded correctly as in the 3 Center if it is AG you will lose on this deal. For not much more you should be able to get at least a 1900 IHC in G or VG very inexpensive coin.
Unless you really need these coins to complete some collections I think you will be better off with the Silver as it will raise in value much faster than the deal you are looking into when the market settles down.

    more marketable

If you want the collector coins and you will be happy with them going forward, then trade. Should you ever want to convert your collection for money, then the two silver coins are much more marketable. Bullion is always much easier to sell and would sell quickly. It would be much more difficult to find a buyer for the other coins unless you lowered the price possibly below that of the bullion's value.

    Very best regards,

Tell your trading partner to sweeten the deal a bit. Don't tip your hand about wanting the 3¢. Of course if they read this thread it's too late.

Hey stainless.. I agree your not getting the better part of this deal or even a equal trade and that is all anyone wants. Have him sweeten the deal or pass.

other than the three cent nickel, are these coins you need or just trade fodder? if they are fodder then you could do much better with some members here
