I am an old poot collector and I really like the 90% silver cameo proof Kennedy Half Dollars. I know they will probably never appreciate enough to make a bunch on them, never intended to, but I would like the best value for my purchase dollars. Should I be buying raw coins or PCGS slabbed coins? I have both but lately have been thinking I should save the difference and just buy raw coins. What say ye? Thanks much. Mike

    buy them raw.

They will sell at roughly melt value whether slabbed or not IMHO

Slabbed coins would be easier for you and your family members to sell. They also take up more room. Raw coins would be cheaper, but I do not know by how much. I doubt it will be by much. I don’t know which point is more important to you. The decision is ultimately yours.

For Kennedy’s there’s a few grade levels where the raw vs slabbed price difference is basically non existent. It’s a hard series for most people to grade and a lot of misses get sent in that just get dumped into the market at whatever price

Heck, if there is no value to them above the melt price, I might as well quit collecting all together and just buy bullion. You may have just saved me some money. I enjoy collecting but dang if I want to loose that much on them. Thanks for the insight.

Before you give up collecting I suggest you look at sold listings on ebay for both raw and slabbed examples.

Yep. Your right. That is where I buy my coins anyway. They are indeed still selling. I am still a collector. Woo Hoo. I love it. I just needed a little prodding. LOL
