With all the new people here, I'm sure theres lots of coins we can all share with each other. So, lets see your nicest LRB Heres some of mine
Arcadius and My First Ancient Coin Arcadius AD 383-408 AE 20.9mm x 5.89g Struck.Between 15 May AD 392 and 17 January AD 395 Alexandira, Egypt; Roman Mint Obv: rosette diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right-DN ARCADIVS P F AVG Rev: Emperor standing facing, head right, holding labarum & globe-GLORIA ROMANORVM, ALEA in ex. I don't think its my best condition or my latest Roman but its nice, and nicer to me.
Gratian (367- 383 A.D.) Æ 21 O: D N GRATIA-NVS P F AVG, Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. R: VIRTVS ROMANORVM, Roma seated facing, head left, holding globe and spear,Θ and Φ at sides, anta in ex. theta and phi officina Antioch Mint 2.5g
LRB => Hopefully this is "late enough" ... Maximinus II AE Follis Date: 308 AD Diameter: 24.3 mm Weight: 8.2 grams Obverse: GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB CAES - Laureate bust of Maximinus II Reverse: VIRTVS EXERCITVS - Mars in military dress, holding transverse spear, shield and trophy over shoulder. X in l. field, B/K in right field References: RIC 83
Nicest? Best grade? Most interesting? Hardest to replace if lost? There are so many coins I like. Choosing is hard. My best anonymous Pagan (c.313 AD) workshop 5+4=9 Constantine I as Caesar AE1 issued under Maxentius at Rome Doublestrike of a severe reverse die clash showing that the incuse was certainly in the die not a 'restruck brockage' Magnentius - just a high grade coin with smooth black surfaces Another Magnentius - a flipover double strike where the first strike was a brockage - a double error This software allows five coins per post. These may be my five favorite LRB's???
If this counts then heres another. This one has a die chip that looks like snot dripping from his nose. Maximinus II Daia (309 - 313 A.D.) Silvered follis O: GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB CAESAR; Laureate head right. R:GENIO POPVLI ROMANI; Genius standing left, modius on head, naked but for chlamys over left shoulder, right hand holding patera from which liquord flows; left a cornucopia., A in right field, •SM•SD• in exergue. Serdica mint 28mm 10.7g RIC VI 13b RCV 3754v (obverse inscription)
