My bank teller found out I was a coin collector and said she had some really old ones she'd like to get rid of. I saw them yesterday and didn't know what most were. There was one Mercury dime, and the rest looked foreign. A total of about 10 coins, a couple looked silver and most copper or bronze. Many from the 1800s, a couple looked even older. What should I offer her? I couldn't tell at all what they were.... I was thinking of giving her 3 choices. $5, take pics and send to me and I'll evaluate, or give her the address of a local coin dealer (but then I may lose the treasure....) I just re-read this and wow, I'm not giving you much. That probably points me to the pics thing........anyone care to comment?
Why dont you roll the dice and offer her 10 bucks. You have to make it attractive to her in some way so she doesn't move on. When you think about it, she probably found the coins mixed in during her day to day activities and would have only paid face value for them. Even if you get them for 10 bucks, and they turn out to be worth less, at least you got her in your corner should she come across anything else during her work day. You can also ask her to hold back any recent silver coins she may find as well
