Young Numismatist Only Contest....

This Contest will be for young numismatist only....what does that mean?
Well if you are under 18 yrs of age and are a member here on Coin Talk you can play.

Whats the gig? Ok here it is...

I found 10 First Day Coin Covers in the safe and wanted to have this contest.
All you have to do is submit a Letter explaining why you would be the best candidate for the 10 covers. I have asked 3 fellow CT members to be judges in this Contest and I am waiting to hear back from them.

It will be the 3 judges who make the decision on who wins the prize.

What are the 10 covers??
"They are all sealed in the plastic wrap from the mint".
To my knowledge, these are no longer available from the mint and the issue $$ was ~ $15.00 each..so the value is ~ $150 of First Day Covers to some lucky young boy or girl.

You will need to pre register and the Contest will be limited to the first 15 entries once the Start Date has been determined.

Rules:
1.You must be a member as of August 1, 2009 to qualify.
2. No less than 30 words in your submission
3. Judges will provide a grade 1-10 for all submissions Highest point total will be deemed the winner.

Registration for YN Contest.

Ok...

The Judges have been confirmed and This is the announcement of the registration date!

To Register for this Contest all YN under the age of 18 will need to Send me and the Judges (including CamaroDMD) a PM registering to play in this Contest starting Tuesday night at 7:45 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Only the first 15 entries that come in within the "required" time frame will be accepted. We all understand the time differences between the East, Central and West Coast time zones.
Your time stamp will indicate that easily. The earliest time stamp to be accepted would be from the West Coast at 4:45 PM to be equal to East Coast Time of 7:45 PM. Central Time should be 6:45 PM..

Any PM's sent before these times will not be accepted.

Once we have the 15 players, I will announce a start time and a finish time.
Please do not submit any written material to the Judges until the contest begins.

I will say that there are specific points the judges will be looking for in the essay's.

Stay tuned for the posting of the Participants.
I will be traveling and in the Metro Denver area Wed, Thurs and Fri of this week and will check CT from the road.

So get ready to submit your name to be one of the first 15.

Please copy the Judges on the PM so that we can validate the time stamps and agree on the first 15 to sign in.

Can my 15 year old son participate, or would he have to have been a member on his own by the cut off date?

The majority rule is that;

A. The rules have already been established and would be unfair to
change them mid-stream.

I am sorry Bobbeth, I do hope you understand? Nothing personal be assured of that. There will be another one toward the years end and I do hope you sign him up .

Ok lets sweeten the deal some more. Provided we get at least 8 players, I will award 1'st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

Second Place is a Gem Crisp Series 2006 $5 Note with a minimum of 4 leading 0's in the SN

Important Contest Info.

After the cutt off time of 10:00 PM tonight the Contest will begin.
I had thoughts of changing some rules so we could have more participants but hey we have 4 and there are only 2 prizes to be won unless we get at least 8.

So in all fairness, those of you who entered are welcome to submit your essay's to the Judges.

There is no time limit on submitting them but try to keep it within the next few days.....

Judges will let me know whos' essay's were chossen.

I should have had one of my daughters sign up, on the premise that they were getting RickieB's 1914 $50 FRN. Actually my 14 year old daughter did once buy a 1917 SC, since she wanted a big dollar bill, it is actually a fairly nice one a VF. I wish she would buy more, she has an eye for good stuff at ridiculously low prices.

 

If it's ok with the original contest starter I'd like to donate some prizes to the winners also.

I want to make sure it's ok before I come up with some more items.
