Road rash?

 

It was in some persons car ashtray. They dropped it from their car (when cleaning out the ashtray) and it became a Road Rash quarter

 

Shucks, guys! We get coins like this all of the time. They're posted by BoobTube'ers wanting to know if it is a Mint error.

25c! It would be worth more, but there's that pesky dark spot at 9 o'clock on the top side.

Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time... (I thought everyone just threw their lit butts out the window. )

The spot on the quarter looks to me like an electrical burn, where something tried to spot-weld to the coin. I've seen that pattern many, many times as a somewhat clumsy and absent-minded electronics hobbyist. But I also don't see any corresponding marks elsewhere on the coin (current has to have a way in and a way out).

I'd think a cigarette would make a larger mark.

It's one of a kind. You don't know what you are talking about. I searched google and couldn't find anything else like it. I'm going to be rich after I send it to a TPG and it comes back. You'll see! Who will be laughing then?!
