You don't find too many of these...

    I happen to have a complete set from this territory. All 2 coins, only minted in 1948. St. Pierre & Miquelon.
    KM# 1, 1 Franc, Aluminum.
    Mintage: 600,000
    KM#2, 2 Franc has a mintage of 300,000.
    This one is an extra I found, and very near BU. Pictures a bit fuzzy, not the coin.

    A lot of people don't realize this country is in North America. It's a French protectorate near the mouth of the St Lawrence River.

    For some inexplicable reason these are fairly common in the Chicago area. Perhaps they came down with the cargo ships when the seaway was opened in 1959. Quality ranges from pretty good to superb. I rarely see them in poundage and they tend to be XF/ AU.

    Actually it's in the atlantic, about 10 miles off the southern coast of New Foundland.
