Can't be an error, the years are so far apart it's not even possible.
Some kind of man-made thing I would say.

 

I believe he's just showing the 1950 as a comparison. It looks legit to me.

 

That looks just like a double struck nickel to me.

 

Your right the 1950 is just showing you how it fits.. 1987 is the double struck ONE that is what I think.. Who can I show it to ? or who can give me a price on it ? I am in the City of Ocala, FL

 

i just looked at completed ebay auctions, and there were several completed listings for similar nickels selling for 24.99. Most did not have a bid.

 

Is the image in the second strike (small as it is) positive or reversed? If it is positive it was struck by the die. If it is negative it was made by a coin - possibly a brockage.

What about the reverse?
