We had a thread of mats go females on ancient coins. based on the portraits you see on coins, which one (and only one) would you choose to own. Base it purely on the females attractiveness on the portrait, not on rarity, value, or anything like that. +1 for Faustina Jr. stainless
Already know Doug will select Domna... Thats really tough choice. I like many, too hard to choose. If living then, I would have several as my concubines, lol. It was a toss up between Orbiana & Crispina...Crispina wins by a small margin. Now to acquire a coin after paying off my roman republic..
The Godess Eubola looks kinda cute for an 2,200 year old chick. The chick on the ship is a nymph. (o)
I agree artwork on Celtic is amazing, but for "hot chick" I would vote Larissa 3/4 facing portraits. Very classy.
waiting for this one to come, i have bought it from my favourite dealer in paris, it is a silver marseille region obol and it only cost 30 euro's................see celtics can do women as well
Moneyer, I like the obverse, Do you have a date on it ? Personally I like to see the archaic horse or deer etc. on a reverse. Wish i knew more about Celtic coins, I have 2 of them. But they are rocks.
from around 100bc, the same dealer has gallo-belgic celtic coins from 10 euro's upwards, i have bought literally hundreds of coins from him and i always get superb service, the range of ancients he has for sale is amazing as well as more modern coins and banknotes...........his web site is www.cgb.fr and he will ship anywhere. to learn more about celtic coin a guy called chris rudd from the UK is a renowned expert in the field and has written many books on the subject.
With regard to the O.P's question, my vote goes to Agrippina the Elder. I find her portraits very appealing, if somewhat stern. But she is definitely my favourite among the roman ladies.
Here is a beautiful sestertius of Agrippina (not mine!) issued under Caligula bearing her portrait and a carpentum - SPQR MEMORIAE AGRIPPINAE.
