I recently was introduced to yet another type of interesting coin collection. My friend's "Family Member Birth Year" collection. Also called his "Geneology Collection". Starting with his immediate family, including grandkids, he has gone back into the 1700's which includes various countries. He continously improves the quality. I guess it would fall under a Legacy Type. He intends to hand it down to a responsible family member. I told him to adopt me.
Great idea. I did something similar for my grandkids and great grandkids. I made up sets that included at least one of each circulation coin for the last one hundred plus years. I made a family tree that went back to at lease the great great grandparents and included coins from all the birth dates. I have done more than 25 so far.
That is a great idea. I have never thought of doing that. The only dates I have looked for have been my own, 1949 (No Proof set sadly) and 1883 which was my grandmother's birth date. She was coin accumulator, and was always on the lookout for coins with that date. The only one one she ever found to my knowledge was this 1883 dime love token, which I inherited from her collection.
