I ask far too many of these, and for that I apologize. I already posted this coin, but with much worse pictures. What grade do you think this indian would receive? I am considering getting it slabbed, but am not sure it's worth my time. Any opinions? I accidentally made two posts, but I wanted to say the yellow and white spots are dust.
I agree....AU....I wouldn't get it slabbed as it would cost too much for the grading....but that is totaly up to you Speedy
I don't see any wear on the high spots. If it's Almost Uncirculated, then AU-58. If it's not been in circulation then MS-64-BN. Bone
I think the hair has a little wear below LIBERTY.... Its hard for me and many others sometimes to know if a coin is AU or MS60...it takes time and lots of looking. Speedy
The high points of the obverse are the center curl of hair just above the date and hair over the ear - on the reverse it is the center of the bow. All of these areas appear to show slight signs of wear to me.
You're making them tougher :headbang: OK - I'm gonna say MS64 BN but........ Knew there had to be a but didn't ya ? And I could be wrong here - somebody is gonna say what about the tip of the second feather ? Well - all the high point details appear to there, so why not the feather ? If you look at the bottom half of the coin's fields on both sides you can make out an orange peel like appearance. That usually happens with worn die. So I am assuming that the tip of the second feather was well worn or perhaps polished until the detail was lacking. Because if the detail struck up in the high points - it should have struck up in the feather as well. It did in the others after all. And it is unlikely that wear would occur in just that one spot. Now then - one more but ......... Look at the reverse rim about 3 o'clock. There are a couple of heavy rim dings there. It could well be that NGC and PCGS would not slab this coin because of those rim dings. Sometimes they do - sometimes they don't. So, the grade - MS64 BN but ..........
