I just found a few George Washington Dollars with the same gouge on the edge lettering...Here are some (bad) pictures.... What do you guys think? Worth a million on Ebay =p?
Perhaps some debris got stuck in the edge inscription step and it took quite a few coins to wear it off??? The only problem with my theory is what would be able to adhere to the equipment at the speeds that it is moving?
Philly, there is no way that is possible. The coins enter the wrapping machines randomly. There is no way that the same marking can be put on each coin like that...it had to come from the edge lettering process..
