YES! YES! YES! I finally won an auction on ebay. I had been trying to win a pair of 2004 uncirculated Nickels. I found 2 rolls, one of each type, from the denver mint. I have a roll of each from the Philiidelphia mint, so all I needed was these Denver mint rolls. Well I found an auction, bid, and was snipped at the last minute. Then, after a day or so, I found another one, from the same seller. I bid on it and in the last 30 seconds I was snipped again! So, 2 hours later, the same seller had another one ending. I waited till there was 26 seconds left, and I bid (nobody else had bid on it yet). By the time I finished placing my bid, there was only 6 seconds left. I won! The final price was $4.95!!! Now all I have to do is get a roll of both of the 2005. I'm going to the bank monday

I use SnipeSwipe for all my sniping needs. It lets me make a secret bid without having to be present when the bid is made during the last few seconds of an auction. Some people think that it either defeats the purpose of an auction or is in some way unfair, but it serves my purpose and saves a bit of money if a coin (or something else I'm after) gets overbid due to a bidding war. In any instance, I make no apologies for sniping. SnipeSwipe is at: http://www.snipeswipe.com/index.html

CoinJoe, I neglected to congratulation you on a great buy! I'm in the process of auctioning some very miscellaneous (read: junk) coins I bought in a grab bag. I started them off at one cent (shipping only $1.45) and, surprisingly, four of the five have bids (they end tomorrow = Sunday). One is still at one cent and another hasn't any bids at all, but three have gone up to a few dollars. For the ones still at one cent, this would be an opportunity for a sniper to nail them cheap. I've found that once someone places a bid, then others start feeding on it and it sometimes gets into a frenzy. But for these coins, at least they're going to someone who can use them; it doesn't matter that their sales isn't gonna really net me any real money.

I should also mention that I am also susceptible to bidding frenzies, so sniping is also a means for controlling my urges. On occasion when I have a snipe in for a coin (or whatever), I'll watch the bids very closely. As the end approaches and I'm refreshing the page every 14 seconds (my reload time), I can feel the adrenaline rush. If I'm not outbid or outsniped at the last second and I win the coin, I have a few moments of physiological elation; if I lose, I go into brief chemical depression accompanied by rapid heartbeat. In other words, win or lose, I get a kick out of auctions!

Yeah I do too! At 9 (EST) when I lost the auction for the second time, I had a huge adrenaline rush. But the price on that one wormed its way up to $8! But I was snipped :( And then I won this won at 11 (EST) and I was over joyed! I was jumpin up and down lol. Whats your ebay name btw?

I'm "thefred2" (without the quotation marks). This is a derivative of my name from when I survived a direct tornado hit in upstate NY in 1998 and was elevated to demi-god status by the lads at the Scout Camp where I worked at the time. It was all in good fun, of course (except the tornado part).

I also get in the same hyper-adrenaline physiological state at in-person auctions. And I stay away from flea markets and lawn sales since I might get excited if I make a good find. I also make a lousy poker player.

Oh, thank you! I'm flattered. I'm on several other favorite seller lists, so I must be doing something right. Must be the Eagle Scout in me. But, it might be a few months before I get back into selling.

The last of my auctions just ended a little while ago. I'm happy to get rid of some not-so-great coins and send them to people who can use them. For the one larger ticket item, it was sniped in the last few seconds raising the final bid substantially and the gain on my investment for this coin to 69.2% over a 20 month period. I've now got my PayPal account with a tidy chunk of investment money. Sooooo......

I'm now going into buying mode as I upgrade the level of my collection. I'm looking for (1st) a PCGS MS-63 or better 1892-CC Morgan; or (2nd) a PCGS MS-64 or better 1890-CC Morgan; or (3rd) a PCGS MS-65 1891-CC Morgan - all at prices one grade below book, of course (and free is always good! :D ) . I'm looking hardest for the 92-CC, have a couple on watch status with eBay.

While I may decide to sell one or two other lower grade Morgans, I don't think it's gonna happen until after this summer. I hit the road next month and will be working at my old Scout Camp for the summer, so time will be a little tight for eBay. I like to give myself a month of lead time before initiating an eBay transaction just in case something goes wrong, goes wrong, goes wrong...
