So went to a yard sale this morning, and within an hour I think I did quite well. I picked up 4 war nickels, a 1929 SLQ, 1971 blue Ike, and a 1864 2 cent piece graded AG, all for $21. I think my best finds were the blue Ike, and the 2 cent piece, I wish I had brought more cash! What do you think? Will post pics later.

Nice take. Can you post photos of the 2-cent piece and the SLQ?

The 2 cent is pretty worn, it was "graded" AG, you can't really make you the date in the pics, but it is there if you look, and it looks better in hand. It was mixed in his bargain box. Wish I had more cash, he had some good stuff that I hesitated on.

I concur with the AG grade on the 2-cent piece.

Too bad you couldn't have rummaged through the whole box and made a single offer on the whole lot.

I don't think $30 would have done it, haha and I don't think he took credit. Not sure if my best find was the 2 cent for $5, or a blue Ike for $5.

In cases like you described, I ask if I can call the person later to see if anything is left, after the yard sale is done.

What exactly is a "blue ike"? Is it toned blue?

The US made blue and brown ikes. The blue ikes are uncirculated and come in a blue envelope with a blue plastic chip. The brown ikes come in a brown box sealed in a case much like the proof sets. Both of these are silver.
