We seem to be slowly changing over to numbers because people apparently can't read. I seriously doubt they would go in the opposite direction and use roman numerals in that case. (People were apparently better educated in the mid nineteenth century and understood roman numerals.)
Tell me about it. It says 'HALF dollar' right on the coin and I was given back change for 2 dollars when I used 2 of them to pay for something on the dollar menu. She inspected/read the coins for at least 15 seconds. Why would I give you $2.07 for something that cost $1.07???
