Hi: My kid and I made our first trip to a coin dealer (Brooklyn Gallery of Coins and Stamps, a real 'authentic' NY store, and I'm sure well known to everyone but me in NY). Our objective was to get storage supplies, a Guide, etc. I asked about WW2 era Russian coins and was surprised to see that they had none in stock... 1914A German 10 Pfenning, yes, and a wide range of other World coins, but not one from Russian after 1939 or before about 1948. Are these coins particularly rare and hard to come by? or did I just happen into the wrong store or catch him at the wrong time? Thanks, Mike
You got to realize that during the WWII era, Russia didn't mint coins for all denominations for 1942-1944. Coins of both 1942 and 1944 can be a challenge to find. And now with the ridiciously hot Russian coin market at the moment as well as once the coins get back to Russia, they cannot be legally exported out unless they are dated 1957 or older. I can take a look to see if I have any spares but I really doubt it.
