In 1989, I inherited a small collection from my Uncle Alphonse ( Italian) who was a true hero . He was a Medic who received shrapnel in his leg and lost it from the knee down .
This 1944 coin was in his collection along with a 1937 coin holed . It would be amazing to know that he wore it in the War . He survived the war and received the Purple Heart .
If only coins could talk or can they ??
I just discovered it in an old 1958 coin book IMG_20210313_202936085_HDR.jpg 100_1293.jpg ,

Is the GVI coin British? Maybe a threepence or a sixpence?
