Two more Numismatic News readers have reported wrapping errors in their two-roll sets of uncirculated 2009 Professional Life Lincoln cents.

The first report was published in Letters in last week’s paper. In each case, the end coin is a Formative Years cent, which was the second issue of 2009.

The recipients are reluctant to open the rolls after paying $8.95 for the set. They could contain just one of the Formative Years cents or all 50 could be the second design.

In each case, the readers wonder what additional value might accrue to these sets. The answer, unfortunately, is that over the longer term because it is fairly easy to put coins in different wrappers, the market is not likely to support a significant premium.

The Mint had not responded to a request for comment by press time in the week shortened by the Labor Day holiday.
