Hello...I am looking for maybe some help and info...... I would like to know if anyone knows of any Nickle, dime, halves, or dollars that are made with wrong dies, transitional dies, or mid-year design die change on business strike coins? First some definitions..... WRONG DESIGN DIES: A coin where the dies that struck the coin were not intended to have been used together on that coin by the Mint. Example: A half dollar with a business strike obverse die and a proof reverse die. TRANSITIONAL DESIGN DIES: A coin struck with a die the Mint intended for use before or after the year that coin that was struck. Example: An 1859 obverse die with an 1860 reverse die on a cent. MID-YEAR DESIGN DIE CHANGE: A denomination that in the same year had different designs that the mint intended for use. Example: The five designs of state quarters that were produced each year. what I have listed is... 1939 P Proof reverse of 1940 AKA strong stepsnickels 1969 P Proof reverse AKA reverse of 1968 dime 1970 P Proof reverse AKA reverse of 1968 dime 1970 D Proof reverse AKA reverse of 1968 dime 1958 Proof style reverse AKA Type 2 half 1959 Proof style reverse AKA Type 2 half 1959 Double Die Reverse with the Type 1 and Type 2 reverse AKA Type 3 half 1972 P Type 1 AKA low relief AKA RDV-001 dollar 1972 P Type 2 AKA high relief AKA RDV-002 dollar 1972 P Type 3 AKA modified high relief AKA RDV-003 dollar Anyone have anything else????
Lots in Washington quarters. Check out the early clads. For some years, there are are as many as 5 different reverse dies. Also, the Type A, B, and C reverses on the '56-'64, and '64 D respectively. There appears to have been an obverse hub change during the '51 and '52 minting period. 1934 has three obverse die varieties.
