Coin collecting " As a hobby"

Coin collecting is a hobby for all age's it can prove to be a good investment, or just something to do in your spare time. One thing for sure once you start your hooked. And the good thing is no matter what coin "strikes your fancy "you can more than likely afford to own a few. My market is in silver. Though I would not recommend it for the beginning collector. I like to think of it as good investment. But if your thinking of getting into the silver market here's a few pointer's, Go to any coin shows you can, try to ask dealers if the have any silver that they can sell at just above melt. (melt is what the coin would go for if it was melted down for just the silver content) Then sit on them and wait for the market to break. It usually does so just before or after the quarterly quot ea. Then if the price is good sell off you stock and wait for silver to drop again(it usually does so between 1-2 weeks after the quarterly quot ea comes in) Then repeat process.
Now another good investment is "Morgan dollars" Because at a good grade you should never sell a Morgan for under15 dollars. Now most dealers have a stock of them and if you buy in Lot's (in bulk)the are usually happy to give them to for just above melt.. about 12-13 dollars. with silver @ say 11.75 an ounce if you buy say 100 of them @ 13 dollars a coin and resale them for 15 dollars a coin that's a 200 dollar profit.
Another good investment is" type Set's".. A "type set" is a collection of a certain kind of coin and all the different changes it went through.( the mods) they are a good investment because you can normally sell them for about 20-30% of what you got into them. Now that's a good profit considering that a 5% profit is about average.
Well that's about all I can tell you for now. HAPPY COLLECTING

    Silverstruck,

No, I have not checked out the Thread! To be honest, I avoided it because I am too old and too set in my ways of Coin Collecting and a Coin Collecting Course would probably not help me this late in the game.:whistle: However, I will try to check it out later tonight when I have cuaght up on all of my tasks at work.

I mean that you shouldn't complain if people think somewhat less of you after this incident. Personally I think its a bit underhanded to take credit for someone else's work, particularly if you're trawling for awards.

Don't worry, I won't let it come between us.
