Wright Cincinnati Civil War Token

    Here are some pictures of one of my recent purchases. I don't normally buy civil war tokens but the eagle on this one grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go! Interestingly, the token is dated 1863 on both the obverse and reverse.

    Can any of you CW token collectors share more information about this piece? I have no idea about the issuing merchant, mintage, condition, rarity, etc.

    Denomination most likely is one cent. Better than 95% of all the civil war tokens were cent tokens.

    Yeah, this token is exactly the same size as other cent coins of the period. I am sure it was meant to replace a cent.

    Fuld Number is 165GR-1a. A R2 on the rarity scale (2,000 - 4,999) considered common. Its a nice token, looks AU.

    FYI - as of this morning, there are a few of these on eBay right now (not my auctions).
