I had been eyeballing this coin all week. I noted that this was the Large O variety and possibly something going on with the date, so I was looking forward to snagging this. I was also ready with a high bid because I've wanted one of these (an 1839 H10C) for a long time with this look.

It sat at $27 all day. It was at $60 with 3 seconds left. Then with one second left when I bid it jumped to $3,453. Good grief... too rich for my blood. Maybe @Paddy54, @C-B-D or @ToughCOINS could shed some light on what just happened here. o_O

Wow. I actually have bought from that seller too. He sold me my first capped bust type coin back when I was fairly new.

Sounds like a power struggle that had nothing to do with coins.
The adreniline rush must have been awesome.

You sure? There were 4 bidders who all bid over 3k in the last few seconds.

There’s gotta be something else going on there if three separate people bid that high though?

Maybe the CircCam premium has finally caught on!:hilarious:

Heritage has sold one of these. An ANACS XF in 2005. It went for $4700+.

‘Twas a first for me anyway. I’ve sniped with big jumps before but nothing that drastic.

Thanks for solving the puzzle. Crazy... I guess I was three watchful pairs of eyes away from a total score.

Always nice to see the numismatic pulse alive and well in any case.

Impressive that there were so many that caught onto it. Cherrypicking is alive and thriving!

I thought I was sneaky bidding $125. Then reality backhanded me three times simultaneously.

Though that’s gotta feel better than the guy who thought he was getting a $3k+ coin for $60 until the very last second.
