What wouldn't you give to own this beauty? Incredible coin. http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170112885226
DJCoins, that's a very nice 1937D nickel 5c. that's had 2 bids put on it.It is at US$1,100 so far. Aidan.
Hey Aiden - Look at that coin again. Even on the PCGS price guide, a 1937D nickel 5c only lists for $73. My guess that one will go for over $20,000! (Hint - check the legs)
Frank, the 3 legged Buffalo nickel is in the same class as the 1916 on 1916 overdate nickel - a class of their own. I know of no-one who has found a 3 legged Buffalo, but I know of 2 people over here who found at least 1 of the 1916 on 1916 nickels. Aidan.
Aiden: Agreed on both points, I know a dealer who found a 1916/1916 double die, in a bag of junk Buffalos. He sold it for several thousand dollars and this was about five or more years ago.
Frank,I can guess that that particular dealer was laughing all the way to the bank when he found that coin. Aidan.
Aiden: Sure, in a bag of 'junk' Mercury dimes I found a 1921 D in ag, value about $25. I also found (Same bag) a 1942/1 D Merc, I got it slabbed and now it is in an NGC holder as XF-45. Cost 50 cents, plus $10 for slab, value about $900. This of course dosen't count cherrypicking: three 1858/7 Flying eagle cents. A 1909 S VDB, bought as a 1909 S from a dealer, $40, now in an NGC holder as f-12. And others. Have you ever found anything?
For $20,000 that thing BETTER HAVE all FOUR legs! :: feels there should be a discount for fewer legs ::
I don't personally like buffalo nickels, although I have a type coin, but that is quite nice, with the error very clear...
I wouldn't pay that kind of money, but hey I don't collect them either... It is pretty though and very nice condition.
Looks "AU" & "cleaned" to me. sorry Frank, had to do it before someone else did! LOL swick It is a BEAUTIFUL coin though!!
