PICT0150.jpg PICT0148.jpg I know I'll be asked how much it weighs ----> 3.11 grams....... so it must be copper ....yet the color is undeniable. I don't have a magnet here.....grrrrrrr

That’s an environmentally damaged 1944 cent. Pretty well circulated too.

Your one year off;)it's supposed to be copper, the copper instead of zinc mix up is for (1943). Although some 1944 specimens were accidentally minted with leftover zinc planchets, this definitely isn't one of them.Still a cent and also i suggest taking a break after this.you've been looking at coins for to long, what I do every time this happens.

If it were struck on a steel planchet it would weigh 2.7 grams. Since you provided the weight of 3.11 grams then it is a regular copper planchet.

There are a some places where you can find a magnet..
    Refrigerator magnet
Medicine cabinet door - some latches use a magnet
    Electric can opener lid catch

It looks like it's been in combat, nice find! There was a World War round about then, I think I read that on Wikipedia.

It sure looks like it but that’s from environmental damage. In other words, it’s toned.

I don't know that I'd categorize that as toning. Toning is tarnish.
