I want to show you a few scanners shots of some coins in my 2009 Silver Set that have some black dots(Kennedy), warty nose(Tyler)_, Sacagawe a reverse--here butt. I'd like your opinions as to whether you think I should send this set back. Thanks zeke.

yes, I would personally send them back. this is unacceptable condition passing through QC for me. personally, they need to be aware that this doesn't pass grade in hopes they will stop sending out such product.

Are you absolutely sure they're on the coins and not the holder? Quite frankly maybe I don't hold the same high standards that many here seem to subscribe to but those coins just don't bother me.

If contaminates on the inside of the holder and not on the coins I'd still return them, never know what effect they would have on the coins if left in the mint packaging over time.

I think I would. What's this in your photo, Zekeguzz?

Oh, I see where these are scanner shots. So what I circled may be hair, lint or a scratch on the glass but take a look.

Personally, I buy mint products from a local dealer, it saves me most of the shipping costs, then I can look them over before I plunk down my dollars. I have not picked up the silver set yet, but from your pics I will keep a hairy eyeball out for spotting.

Scanners can be incredibly unforgiving when it comes to photos. You guys are going to experiance sleepless nights and begin to develope stomach ulsers over this stuff...

I received this Silver Set straight from the mint about 5 days ago. Alot of what you see is outside dust. But not the thing on Tyler's nose orthe fine scratch that was just pointed out to me. Good eye! Well, I guess the concensus is that it should be sent back to the mint. Thanks an awful lot.
Your opinions really helped. There are other black tiny dots but I didn't think I had to show them all for all of you to get the picture Ha, ha, how about that spot on Sacagewea's butt. I couldn't have placed it any better.
I hope the next Silver Set is spotless, as it should be. Oh, should I request a refund for the shipping charges?---------THANKS AGAIN----zeke
This is the very first set I have ever had to ship back.

There are some threads here on CT that discuss the mint return shipping policy, here's one from this year

Just wanted to let you know that I just called the mint about returning the silver set. They are sending me a prepaid postage sticker and istructions for returning said silver set. This is because I must have squeeked in under the 7-day return deadline. I was on vacation last week when it arrived at my apt. mailbox. So I am all covered for a 1 to 1 exchange. I hope I don't end up playing silver set hop skotch with the mint until I get an acceptable set.:)

I would send it back, but then...

I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

I wouldn't have bought it either just because the silver sets are just a bit too expensive for me.

Seems like a poor strike where the metal did not flow evenly creating those spots.

I'd send it back but who is to say the replacemnt will not be worse. :(
